PATRICK BINNS PHOTOGRAPHY

My formal education in photography began at Virginia Commonwealth University and continued at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan where I completed a Masters degree in Fine Art.

 

My studies and professional development have also evolved into a career as a psychotherapist where I am currently working with groups of adolescents and adults in crisis. The challenge of childhood is to separate from the foundations of the past while relying on its support as stepping stones into the future, creating new opportunities for development, mastery, productivity and creativity.

 

My photographic images of representations of the present generation superimposed on the past, seems to parallel my observations of the tensions of children's experiences in their struggle towards adulthood. The coming together of these separate arenas in my life reflects an ongoing appreciation and interest of the challenge of change in its multiple forms and manifestations.
